State-of-the-Art Isolation and Vibration Control
Stillpoints high end isolation feet have been around for two decades now. These state-of-the-art resonance control devices embody technology that is unique to Stillpoints. Each foot incorporates one or more “technology pockets” which consist of balls in bearings that very effectively convert harmful vibrational energy from the audio component into a tiny amount of heat. The ceramic balls are housed in a stainless steel body that will last many lifetimes. Steel provides a superior path for evacuation of energy, but is much harder to machine to tight tolerances than aluminum or brass. Therefore Stillpoints cannot be cheap. The current models are Ultra Mini, Ultra SS, Ultra 5 and Ultra 6. After a very short break-in period, the Stillpoints filters will provide excellent performance forever without any change or degradation.
Specifically designed to provide unprecedented isolation for electronic components as well as loudspeaker stands or loudspeakers , the height-adjustable Ultra 6 is the largest and most sophisticated such device Stillpoints offers. The first Ultra Series product that uses technology pockets on opposing sides of the isolator, they’re available with or without bases and truly represent the state-of-the-art in their field. Made in the U.S.A., Ultra 6 nets consistent improvements in clarity, articulation, and soundstaging that make musical nuances more involving. You can also attach them to a Stillpoints ESS rack, place them between a satellite speaker and subwoofer, or affix them to a loudspeaker stand. Just put a set to the test and you’ll be astonished!
Once you experience what a set of Stillpoints Ultra 6 isolation feet does for your audio and video gear, you won’t be surprised that this reference vibration control product won The Absolute Sound’s Product of the Year Award.
Reviews:
Stillpoints Ultra 6 Resonance Control Feet Review by Fred Crowder @ dagogo.com
“Stage width increased somewhat with better image focus and a greater sense of ambient detail. It became easier to discern details about the space where the music was recorded. Backgrounds were quieter, which allowed me to hear more deeply into the music. Resolution improved particularly at the frequency extremes with more extension at the top (without any accentuation of brightness) and bass definition and clarity improved. The Ultra 6’s enhanced detail and leading edges with percussion instruments like chimes and cymbals without hardening other aspects of the presentation. In particular, the extension at the upper frequencies improves the air around voices and instruments while at the same time enhancing the ability to hear the space in which the performance occurred and the room boundaries, at least to the extent that information was captured on the recording. More importantly, these positives were not at the expense of tonality, musicality, or image density. Female voices remained seductive as did massed strings.”
Stillpoints Ultra 5 and Ultra 6 Isolation Devices by Jacob Hellbrunn @ The Abso!ute Sound
“After listening to the Stillpoints isolation feet for over a year, I have come to consider them an indispensable part of my system. None of the downsides that I’ve heard with many isolation products, such as ringing in the treble or a more sterile presentation, seem to apply to these amazing devices. When it comes to Stillpoints, I can’t keep still about their virtues.”
STILLPOINTS ULTRA 6 RESONANCE CONTROL FILTERS by Chris Thomas @ hifiplus.com
“If you are used to Ultra 5’s, the 6 is something of a revelation. Replacing four 5’s, located beneath a dCS Vivaldi transport, with three Ultra 6’s with bases brings all the usual benefits of speed, air, and incredibly detailed control of the minutiae of musical technique but with an improved sense of dynamism and movement. Tempos seem even more explicit and to me there seems an added sense of poise and musical space.”
“If you want to hear what the musicians are doing then the Ultra 6 is the best way to ‘treat’ a system that I have heard.”
“Personally I have found them completely invaluable in closing the gap between the system, the music, and the listener. Highly recommended.”
